THOUSANDS of gamers have been booted from their online gaming matches as Xbox Live undergoes scheduled maintenance.
More than 8,800 Xbox players have reported issues with the network since 12pm BST in the UK and US alone.
Many on social media believed the gaming network to have suffered a glitch or unexpected outage.
However, Xbox is simply undergoing planned maintenance on The Elder Scrolls Online (TES) Tamriel Unlimited on 2 October, according to its server status site.
The maintenance, which applies to Xbox Series XS, Xbox One and cloud gaming, will cause problems launching games.
TES megaservers will be offline until 5pm BST, according to a post shared by Xbox Support on X (formerly Twitter).
