Where you can vote before election day in the St. Louis area

ST. LOUIS – No-excuse early voting opens across Missouri on Tuesday, approximately two weeks ahead of the November general election. This allows registered voters to cast their ballots without providing a reason. Local election authorities in St. Louis City and St. Louis County are encouraging residents to vote early to avoid potentially long lines.

“We have had absentee voting going on for four weeks, where you had to have an excuse, but tomorrow starts the no excuse portion of the absentee voting,” Rick Stream, Republican Director of Elections for St. Louis County, said.

“This is the length of the ballot,” Ben Borgmeyer, Democratic Election Commissioner for St. Louis City, said, holding up a long form. “This is what a normal piece of paper looks like and this is what your ballot looks like. Double-sided in the city. It can take you 20 minutes to just read it. What we are asking people to do: take advantage of the opportunity to vote early.”

Election officials said Missourians should be prepared for longer polling lines and extended voting times this year, as voters will face one of the longest ballots in recent state history.

Many voters we spoke with on Monday said they were glad to be voting early.

“Number one, it’s my civic duty to vote,” Chryrel Lanos Sneed said. “We won’t be available on Nov. 5, so we wanted to make sure that we did it early.“

Larry Sneed, Chryrel’s husband, added, “We are trying to tell everyone that can come in early and vote; or come in and vote, period.”

“I got some very important health issues that I need to take care of,” Ralph King said. “When that time comes, I may not be in the city.”

“I think that is wonderful that we can do that,” Jennifer Totten said. “I think it’s very important for everyone to vote.”

Here’s a guide to early voting locations and times across St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County. Note: Voters should bring a valid state or federal picture ID.
