(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — It’s that time of the year when Spirit Halloween takes over and begins to pop up. The seasonal store offers costumes, decorations, and other needs for the upcoming spooky season. But have you ever wondered how they pop up so quickly?
Spirit Halloween often looks for a temporary three-month lease, according to their website, as the pop-up often opens on or around Sept. 1 and remains open until Nov. 1.
In order to come to life quickly, the company often takes over abandoned buildings in a community. So, what were these stores before? Here’s what a few of them in Southern Colorado were:
Colorado Springs

- 1790 East Woodmen Road: Former Bed Bath Beyond.
- 3650 Austin Bluffs Parkway: Former 24 Hour Fitness.
- 933 North Academy Boulevard, next to Plato’s Closet.
- 3979 Palmer Park Boulevard, Next to Whirly Ball.
Pueblo
- 3201 Dillon Drive in Pueblo Mall: Former Sears.
Cañon City
- 1811 Fremont Drive: Former Family Dollar.
Spirit Halloween is now open across Southern Colorado and has over 1,500 locations in strip centers and malls across the U.S. Although brick-and-mortar locations close a week or two after Halloween, customers can always indulge in all Halloween needs online through their website at spirithalloween.com
