Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Jr. ‘could soon become her legal guardian’ after her ex demands her conservator be removed

WENDY Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. could soon become her guardian after her ex-husband demanded her guardian be removed from her legal cases.

In court filings exclusively obtained by The U.S. Sun, Wendy‘s ex, Kevin Hunter Sr., petitioned a New Jersey divorce court to have the star’s New York court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey removed from the hearings, as he has claimed she is not legally allowed to represent the star in the Garden State.

Wendy’s guardian had 21 days to prove she was authorized to represent the former talk show host in New Jersey.

At the conclusion of that period, Sabrina entered into the court record late this week that she sent papers via overnight delivery “to register the guardianship in New Jersey.”

Wendy’s ex-husband said in his own papers filed last week that the star’s guardian has “committed fraud upon the court by falsely representing she is permitted to appear on [Wendy’s] behalf” in their New Jersey divorce case.

Kevin Sr. argued that the Wendy’s New York court-appointed guardian “intentionally and willfully misled this court by asserting on multiple occasions that she is permitted to represent Ms. Wendy Williams Hunter as her legal guardian.”

Now, sources close to the case told The U.S. Sun that with the new chain of events in motion, Wendy’s son, Kevin Jr., or another family member can start making moves to step in and take over the star’s care.

“There is now a huge opportunity for Kevin Jr. and the family to make a step forward in Wendy’s guardianship,” an insider said.

In Kevin Sr.’s filing, he pointed to provisions about a guardian needing to file a petition for guardianship in another state and that “notice of a petition under this section shall be given, in the same manner as notice is required to be given in this State, to those persons that would be entitled to notice if the petition were for the appointment of a guardian or issuance of a protective order in both the transferring state and this state.”

“On the court’s own motion or upon request of the guardian or of the conservator or conservatee, or other person required to be notified of the proceeding, the court shall hold a hearing on a petition filed pursuant to this section.”

A source close to the case said that means Kevin Jr. and Wendy’s family should be notified about the guardian going for guardianship in New Jersey over the former daytime talk show host.

Wendy’s ex then disclosed he will object to New York-based Sabrina being a guardian for the star in the Garden State, since he said she “defrauded” the court in representing the star in New Jersey in the first place.

“[Kevin Sr.] wishes to object to any appointment of Ms. Morrissey to be appointed guardian based on her continuing fraud on the court.

“She has already rendered herself ineligible for any appointment as Guardian in the State of New Jersey because of (1) her failure to disclose to this court that she is not and has not been appointed as the legal Guardian of Wendy Williams Hunter in the State of New Jersey,” Kevin wrote in his filing.

He secondly brought up a racketeering case in which Sabrina was named as a defendant.

Kevin Sr. claimed the racketeering case “should warrant Ms. Morrissey being vigorously questioned about them and/or make her ineligible to be considered a Guardian in the State of New Jersey.”

Wendy Williams Alcohol-Related Brain Damage, Aphasia & Frontotemporal Dementia Diagnoses

By The U.S. Sun’s Senior Reporter Jessica Finn, who has reported on Wendy Williams for the past seven years.

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with alcohol-related brain damage in 2019 during a rehab stint in Florida.

An insider explained that a brain scan was done as part of Wendy’s rehab stay in Delray Beach.

A neurologist sat down with the star, her son, and her then-husband, Kevin Hunter Sr.

“The doctor explained to them that Wendy was suffering from alcohol-related brain damage.

“They told her that her alcohol abuse had done permanent damage to the layers in her brain,” the insider said.

“She was warned then and there that if she continued to drink, the damage would only get worse.”

In that meeting, they gave Wendy a devastating prognosis.

The doctors at the rehab foretold of the eventual decline of Wendy’s cognitive abilities, which have become apparent to those who have come in contact with the star in recent years.

“They told her that if she kept drinking she would continue to grow more forgetful, that she wouldn’t remember people’s names, and eventually, she could forget who people even were,” the source said.

After a comment call was sent to Wendy’s team, they released a statement saying Wendy had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023.

“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the statement read.

WHO CAN REPRESENT WENDY?

Back in 2022, the Wendy Williams Show host’s bank, Wells Fargo, petitioned a New York court to hold a guardianship hearing for the star.

In their petition, the bank cited concerns that Wendy was “the victim of undue influence, dementia, and financial exploitation.”

In March of 2022, Wendy was placed under guardianship in New York.

New York attorney, Sabrina Morrissey, was named temporary guardian of the star.

During this time, Wendy was also absent from her wildly popular eponymous daytime talk show for the entirety of its final season.

When Wells Fargo froze her accounts as they petitioned for a guardianship for Wendy, Kevin Sr. claimed he ceased receiving payments from their marital settlement agreement.

Kevin Sr. has been fighting to get the payments to resume in a New Jersey court, but he has also pushed to see Wendy’s financial records in recent years, which he says the star’s guardian has refused to turn over.
