Vicksburg Daily News –

The Warren Central High School volleyball team pulled off their first-ever playoff win in the program’s history after defeating Grenada under Head Coach Matthew Gullett.

The Lady Vikes fell short in the first two sets (25-23,25-10) but fought hard to come back and earn the win in the last three sets (25-22,25-20,15-12). Melissa Herrle, Ka’ryn Henderson, and Arrionna Jenkins had 11 kills each while Herrle had 17 assists and KK Kelly brought in 19 assists.

Herrle had two big kills to help claim the wins in sets 3 & 4 while Henderson finished the match with the final kill of the night.

Defensively the Lady Vikings were led by KeKe McKay’s 33 receptions and Kelly’s 22 digs. McKay, Hannah Island, and Herrle had 19 digs on defense each to help keep Grenada’s offense off the board. The Lady Vikings will travel to Lake Cormorant this Thursday for a 6:00 pm match against the back-to-back state champions.

The Vicksburg High School volleyball season came to an end last night after a loss to Lake Cormorant.

The Missy Gators are under the leadership of first-year head coach Linda Johnson who led the Missy Gators to the first round of the playoffs.

“We have a lot of work to put in for the next year and we are starting now,” Johnson said. “This was a great year and I’m looking forward to many more.”
