RUTHERFORD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A water pump failure in Ellenboro is impacting parts of Rutherford County.
According to Ellenboro Water, the main water pump station at the bottom of Bostic Sunshine Highway experienced a major leak on Wednesday.
Water service has been turned off coming from Forest City.
The water service reported that water service should be restored by Thursday afternoon.
“The towns water tower will supply water to customers until it has ran out,” the utility service said.
The service added that some Ellenboro residents could be without water by Thursday morning.
In lieu of the pump failure, both East Rutherford High School and Ellenboro Elementary School have shifted to a remote learning day Thursday.
Rutherford County Schools said the day is an optional teacher workday for staff and faculty.
