A TINY 5ft 1in traveller bride tied the knot in a wedding dress weighing a colossal 20st – before cutting into a 25-tier cake more than twice her size.

Stunning Catlyn Cawley, 26, needed four guests to help her into the massive satin gown which was so heavy she struggled to walk up the aisle.

Her giant dress cost tens of thousands, took four months to make and boasted a seven-metre train and more than 7,000 pearls.

But the show-stopping outfit was almost overshadowed by the wedding cake which was so tall it touched the ceiling.

Beaming Catlyn said: “Travellers don’t do things by halves. You should go in with a bang on your wedding day – and that’s what I did.

“We used so much of the material that the supplier doesn’t sell it anymore because he’s been cleaned out.”

She added: “Some people have said they don’t like it, but I don’t really care. I think it looked amazing.”

And despite its weight, Catlyn miraculously kept the dress on for almost 12 hours.

She said: “The train was meant to be ten metres long but I had to cut it back because I literally couldn’t move.

“It took ages to get into it and I nearly fell out of my high heels, it was that heavy.

“But once I was in I didn’t want to get out. I partied all night in it.”

Catlyn, who married husband Stuart, 31, in a ceremony in Leeds, West Yorkshire, described it as the best day of her life.

Their £50,000 real-life big fat gypsy wedding also saw thousands splashed out on the cake.

The biggest tier on the 12-foot showstopper was large enough to feed 500 people, Catlyn said.

Most of the cake went uneaten – and was left for venue staff at the Mercure hotel in Bradford, West Yorks.

Catlyn’s wedding also saw her father pay for three Rolls Royces and a mini version of her handmade dress for niece Donna, three.

She said her proud dad has refused to tell her how much the 100-guest extravaganza cost in total.

The whopping dress has now taken over one of the couple’s bedrooms at their home in Leeds.

Catlyn added: “Everything went perfectly but the highlight was the dress.

“Now it’s in one bedroom taking up the entire room.”
