Some of the world’s leading experts on lung cancer will be in Nashville Oct. 15-17 when Vanderbilt University Medical Center hosts the annual meeting of the International Lung Cancer Consortium.
The event will take place at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
This international consortium of investigators, formed in 2004 and affiliated with the World Health Organization, is coordinated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer with the aim of sharing data from ongoing lung cancer case-control and cohort studies.
Melinda Aldrich, PhD, MPH, associate professor of Medicine, is the host of the meeting. She is an expert on lung cancer genetic epidemiology and lung cancer screening in underrepresented populations.
“We are thrilled to host this outstanding group of scientific investigators to share cutting-edge research, exchange ideas, enhance collaborations and show why we love Nashville,” said Aldrich, who is also an associate professor of Thoracic Surgery and an associate professor of Biomedical Informatics.
The meeting will have a global focus with sessions on improving early detection of lung cancer, assessing genomic variants for lung cancer risk, updating immunotherapy advances, understanding lung cancer etiology in former smokers, implementing genetic findings in clinical settings and other topics.
