UPDATE: Higway 24 reopened after fatal crash

(FALCON, Colo.) — CSP reported that Hwy 24 has reopened following the fatal crash northeast of Falcon.

According to CSP, investigators determined that a Ford truck traveling westbound crossed the center line and collided with a Chevrolet truck that was traveling eastbound. Both vehicles had only one occupant.

The driver of the Ford was a 34-year-old man from Colorado Springs who was declared dead on scene. His identity will be released by the county coroner at a later date. The driver of the Chevrolet is a 25-year-old man from Calhan who was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. There are no updates on his condition.

The crash remains under investigation and there have been no charges filed at this time.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that a multi-vehicle crash resulted in one person dead and one seriously injured and closed Highway 24 northeast of Falcon on Sunday, Oct. 13.

CSP said that emergency responders arrived at Hwy 24 and Curtis Road around 11:30 a.m. where they found that two vehicles had crashed, ejecting one driver and pinning the other. The ejected driver was pronounced dead on scene and the pinned driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. There were no passengers reported in either vehicle.

Troopers are on scene investigating, and Hwy 24 is closed in both directions. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at Stapleton Road and westbound traffic is detoured at Scott Road. There is no estimated time for reopening and CSP asks that drivers plan alternate routes.
