Travis Kelce breaks more Chiefs records as Tony Romo makes defiant three word live TV statement after Chargers game

TRAVIS Kelce put together his first productive showing in the 2024 season – and he broke a Kansas City Chiefs franchise record, too.

The 34-year-old NFL star tight end’s performance in the Chiefs‘ 17-10 win over the Chargers in Week 4 even caused CBS’ Tony Romo to share a strong statement about him on live television.

Kelce had a slow start to the campaign, recording just eight catches for 69 yards in Kansas City’s first three games.

Over the weekend, the nine-time Pro Bowler broke out after his slump, hauling in seven catches for 89 yards.

The Chiefs won the divisional matchup and the cameras pointed to Kelce walking toward the center of the field after the game.

The CBS NFL game analyst Romo gave a simple three-word prediction on Kelce’s body of work.

“Kelce is back!” the Dallas Cowboys iconic quarterback said to his colleague and play-by-play commentator Jim Nantz.

“All the hot takes, you gotta find someone else to troll this week,” Nantz responded.

“He’s not going away anytime soon,” Romo added.

Kelce even broke a Kansas City franchise record.

The three-time Super Bowl champion is now the team’s all-time leading receiver.

Kelce surpassed the legendary tight end Tony Gonzalez with his 917th career reception during the second quarter.

Sunday’s win gave the Chiefs their fourth win of the campaign as they have yet to lose thus far.

Each Kansas City victory has been won by one score or less.

The Chiefs will be returning home to take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 5.

It’s not yet clear the status of star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who will be out for the foreseeable future after he suffered a knee injury in Week 4.

Rice’s knee collided with the arm of Patrick Mahomes during the second quarter of the game.

Kansas City will have a bye in Week 6 and then they’ll face the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will need more from Kelce and the rest of the wideout corps moving forward.

Kelce recorded 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns last season.

It was his first campaign since 2015 to not post 1,000 or more receiving yards.
