Transfer tussle: Sharks react to Stormers’ attempts at poaching Bok

Sharks coach John Plumtree has given an honest assessment of the Stormers’ continued attempts to lure this Springbok from Durban to Cape Town.

SHARKS AND STORMERS IN TRANSFER TUSSLE

The Stormers have not enjoyed the smoothest start to the URC season, with the Cape outfit falling by the wayside in terms of terms while also taking big lossess on the injury front.

And it is this combination that has prompted director of rugby John Dobson to bolster his squad and according to the Stormers boss they’ve already entered the market for a loose head prop.

And as revealed by Dobson himself, the player they have identified and are targeting is Ntuthuko Mchunu. The powerhouse front rower, who has three Springbok Test caps, is currently on the Sharks’ player roster.

PLUM SPEAKS ON STORMERS’ PURSUIT OF SPRINGBOK

When asked about the Stormers’ pursuit of Mchunu, the Sharks boss admitted that he was aware of situation, but also drove home the fact that no player is irreplaceable.

“The challenge for us is to keep this team together, but the reality is players do move,” he told reporters after the Sharks’ win.

“We’ve got owners and there’s a lot of decisions to make around who comes and who stays, and we’ve got budgets. Losing any quality player is not what I want to do but the reality of this business is it can happen.

“If a player leaves, good luck, we’ll replace him with someone else. In any quality team no one is irreplaceable,” the Sharks’ internationally acclaimed coach concluded.
