Tom Brady blown away by Jimmy Johnson’s athleticism aged 89 on Fox NFL Sunday after he caught no-look pass from QB

TOM Brady was blown away by the athleticism of one of his Fox NFL costars.

Jimmy Johnson still has some NFL talent to show off, even at 89 years old.

After Week 6’s action came to a close on Sunday, Tom Brady joined the Fox NFL Sunday crew to break down some of the games.

His duties over the weekend were to call the Detroit Lions-Dallas Cowboys game, and he was meant to talk about it with the crew.

However, he first had to talk to Johnson about what he did on Fox NFL Sunday.

During the preshow, NFL quarterback Matt Stafford made a guest appearance on the show and threw some passes to the cast.

One of the passes to Johnson was a little high, but he easily leaped and brought the pass back down to the ground.

This impressed Brady, and he made sure to give him a shoutout before doing his analysis.

“Before I talk about this game I wanna talk about what I saw in the pregame show,” Brady said.

“What I was most impressed with was Jimmy! How are you getting up with those hops like that?

“Catching that pass from Stafford? That was ridiculous.”

NFL fans were also impressed by Johnson’s skill, and shared their thoughts on social media.

“Get this man some pads and a jersey the Jags need him,” one fan said.

“Wow Jimmy Johnson and Matthew amazing,” another fan said.

“Take him out of the game but not the game out of him,” a third fan said.

“You guys are having too much fun today! And that was a great catch Jimmy!” a fourth fan said.

“That’s my Coach!!” a fifth fan said.

The Tom Brady domino effect

Tom Brady will take his seat in Fox’s top NFL announce team alongside Kevin Burkhardt.

And his arrival at the network has set off a domino effect with every other announcer moving down one spot.

That means Fox’s NFL coverage in 2024 will feature entirely new broadcast pairings.

Greg Olsen, who previously worked alongside Burkhardt, will now be part of the No. 2 announce team with Joe Davis.

The other Fox pairings for 2024 are:

  • Adam Amin-Mark Sanchez
  • Kenny Albert-Jon Vilma
  • Kevin Kugler-Daryl Johnston
  • Chris Myers-Mark Schlereth

While Tom Brady has made it through six weeks as a broadcaster, his duties may start to change.

On Tuesday he was approved as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, but that comes with some restrictions.

Many of these restrictions will hamper his ability to be a strong broadcaster, as he isn’t allowed in any other team facilities or in broadcast meetings.

There is no word on whether or not his broadcasting career will be cut short because of the ownership decision, but it will certainly be harder.

For now, what the decision means is that Brady’s playing days are officially over.
