DEAR DEIDRE: A GUY I like doesn’t want me talking to my friends about him. He thinks I am sharing details which are none of their business.
I’m 34 and this guy’s 36. We met through work – our local hospital. We began talking and I soon found out we have things in common.
When he left to retrain as a train driver we kept in touch and started meeting up. I really like him. I like to talk to my friends about him but he gets irritable if I mention it.
We made plans to meet recently but he took on some overtime which I wasn’t happy about.
I wanted to spend time with him. I was annoyed and spoke to my friend about it. She also knows him.
Since then he hasn’t messaged me once. He always used to message first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
He’d always ask how my day had been. He called to say I’d made him mad because I’d spoken to my friends about him and we needed to have a chat.
I feel like this is falling apart before it’s even started.

Have that chat with him. Ask him to tell you what exactly it is that makes him mad about it because it could come over as being controlling.
Reassure him that you are not going to discuss any intimate details. I hope he is reassured.
