Thabiso Ramotshela discusses his return to ‘Youngins’ season two

Former The River actor Thabiso Ramotshela discusses his character, Mahlatse Maleka in Youngins.

THABISO RAMOTSHELA: ‘IT’S THE YIZO YIZO OF OUR GENERATION’

The fan-favourite actor Thabiso Ramotshela tells Showmax that Youngins became the platform where he could finally apply everything he learned from The River over the years.

Ramotshela adds that it also feels great to be part of something historic. He sees this show as the Yizo Yizo of his generation.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity Phathu [Makwarela] and Gwydion [Beynon] gave me to be part of this show. They saw potential in me and helped shape me into the actor I am today.”

The actor adds that his character will feel alone in season two, even though he’s surrounded by people and doing what he usually does.

When asked what he’s learnt from playing Mahlatse, the actor says:

“I’ve learned to appreciate what I have. Mahlatse doesn’t know his dad, but I still have mine. Despite having his mother, he has to step up as the man of the house. I’ve learned to be more appreciative and humbler because, even though he goes through a lot, he remains positive.”

Ramotshela is famously known for his popular character of Morena Mokoena in 1Magic’s canned telenovela, The River.

The hit series which also stars former Rhythm City actress Kealeboga Masango, who portrays “it” girl Buhle on the teen series has been renewed for a second season.

It also features Gomora star Sannah Mchunu as Matron Lulu and Keneilwe Matidze as Pearl “Miss SA” Buthelezi.

Talented actor Ayakha Ntunja has also joined the show, as well as The Queen actor Loyiso McDonald. He portrays the role of Principal Mthembu in the teen drama.
