Taylor Dayne ‘in conversations’ to become next Golden Bachelorette after 80s pop star performs for Joan Vassos on show

POP icon Taylor Dayne rolled back the years on the Golden Bachelorette – and now she’s ready for a piece of the action.

The 80s legend, 62, belted out her throwback classic Tell It to My Heart in a surprise appearance on the ABC reality show.

ROLLING BACK THE YEARS

Taylor told The U.S. Sun she was “thrilled” to be able to work with star Joan Vassos and perform in an old-school, recreated prom setting in front of the contestants.

She also serenaded the prom king and queen with Love Will Lead You Back and one of the contestants even claimed they once went out with her on a date.

“He said we met at a coffee shop in Chicago once in the early days of internet dating,” Taylor told The U.S. Sun with a smile.

“I couldn’t remember that, but being on the show was fun. I loved it.”

NEXT GOLDEN BACHELORETTE?

Taylor, a fearless cancer survivor who looked anything but 62 years old during a lively chat with The U.S. Sun from her home in Los Angeles, had such a fun time that she left the door open for an entrance into the Golden Bachelorette world in the future.

She said people on the show were “rummaging around in my head” about the prospect, and that some “conversations” were had.

MASSIVE FAN

Taylor admitted she loved watching the show with her daughter, and will follow the contestants as the show continues.

However, Taylor could soon be the Golden Bachelorette herself next season.

“I told [the producers] I had a boyfriend,” she smiled. “But they pointed out there was no ring on my finger, so I just said, ‘Listen, guys, whatever. I never say never.’ “

The episode showed Taylor in a fully recreated high school gym setup, that was painstakingly pieced together by the behind-the-scenes crew.

“There were long days, 16 hours on set, but it turned out great,” she said.

“But for me to be on the show was a natural fit.

“I was in high school during the 80s, so it was all about memories and the soundtrack of people’s lives.”

PERSONAL BATTLE

Taylor admits she has “no idea” who will emerge triumphant at the end of the season, but will be watching as she fine-tunes the next part of a career she feared could have abruptly ended just two years ago.

I didn’t think I would survive

The singer, who looks back on her stellar 35-year career with immense pride, is clear about her own vision for the future, after staring death in the face.

In July 2022, Taylor was given just 10 days to decide on a life-saving operation after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer following a routine colonoscopy.

Thankfully, the operation was a success, although doctors told the Grammy-nominated star to fully rest and recuperate after 10 inches of her colon was removed.

An infection following the procedure kept her in hospital for another 20 days.

“I didn’t think I would survive,” she said before admitting she lost over 20 pounds in the process.

INCREDIBLE COMEBACK

Yet, within two months, Taylor was back in the old routine, belting out her classics in her trademark, energetic style and looking forward to wowing her fans once again.

A remarkable state of affairs, considering she was forced to have a catheter for six months post-operation.

Earlier this year, she was on tour with fellow pop legend Paula Abdul and took time out from preparations for some upcoming shows to talk about her glittering past and hope-filled future.

She has to have check-ups every six months. But Taylor is cancer-free, and full of life.

“I knew I needed to see my fans, to be around that energy,” she continued. “It reminded me of my purpose. The vulnerability I felt changed my stage persona. It wasn’t about being loud or putting on a show—it was about being real with my audience.”

Her terrifying brush with mortality has, thankfully, been put to excellent use.

Taylor is a proud spokesperson for Wacoal America’s Fit for the Cure campaign, which helps women battling breast cancer.

As part of the push, this fall Wacoal will donate $5 for every person who receives a complimentary bra fitting and purchases a regular-price Wacoal bra at department stores across the country.

Taylor has a slew of department store appearances lined up and admits speaking with women from all walks of life is inspiring beyond belief.

“My work with Wacoal has become a wonderful platform for me to share my own experiences,” she said. “Early detection saved me. I want women to be their own warriors like I was.”
