Stephen A. Smith tells Shannon Sharpe ‘I’m not in the mood’ and ‘I blame you’ in live First Take rant over Steelers

STEPHEN A. Smith snapped ‘I’m not in the mood’ at Shannon Sharpe on Monday’s First Take.

And former NFL tight end Sharpe saw the funny side as Smith was visibly upset.

ESPN personality Smith began Monday’s show with one of his customary cold opens.

But he looked annoyed, just hours after the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a late-night thriller.

“What do you want Shannon?” Smith shouted as First Take began with a split screen of the duo.

“I’m really not in the mood today.

“It was supposed to be a beautiful Monday morning.

“The steel city, even with lightning delaying the game, my Steelers were supposed to show up.”

Pittsburgh lost 20-17 after Dak Prescott’s late touchdown pass for the Cowboys to Jalen Tolbert.

The game began at 9.45pm ET after a 90-minute delay due to lightning storms.

Smith then lowered his voice and added, “Not only did they lose, they lost to the damn Cowboys.”

He concluded the cold open by looking down the camera and pointing to his show sparring partner.

“I blame you, Shannon,” Smith said. “It’s all your fault.

“I haven’t figured out why, but I’ve got a minute before I do.”

Smith also called for Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson to be arrested for bad play on Monday’s show.

Watson threw for just 125 yards in Cleveland’s 34-13 thrashing by Washington.

Shannon Sharpe’s playing career

Shannon Sharpe was a three-time Super Bowl champion before his heavyweight media career.

The former tight end played in the NFL from 1990 until 2003 – mostly with the Denver Broncos.

He was part of the Super Bowl championship teams in 1998 and 1999 as well as the Baltimore Ravens’ title-winning team in 2001.

Sharpe was an eight-time Pro Bowler and voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He finished with 10,060 career receiving yards from 815 receptions with 62 touchdowns.

The ex-NFL star has had just as strong a career on television screens since retiring.

“DeShaun Watson is awful,” Smith declared.

“It’s so awful that if somebody wanted to arrest him for being awful, I would accept it – It’s that bad.”

He then told laughing First Take co-stars Shannon Sharpe, Dan Orlovsky and Molly Qerim, “It’s not funny.

“His QBR yesterday against the Washington Commanders was 8.5.

“Do you know that wasn’t even his worst QBR of the season? It was 8.3 against the Cowboys in Week 1.

“Are you kidding me? 8.5? I didn’t know single-digit QBRs even existed.

“Zach Wilson had higher QBRs than that. Jamarcus Russell had higher QBRs than that. You can’t even make this up.”
