Southern California man arrested in series of armed food truck robberies

A man was arrested in connection with a series of violent food truck robberies across the San Fernando Valley.

Jesus Garcia-Sotelo, 22, from Los Angeles, is accused of his involvement in eight armed robberies from Sept. 8 to Sept. 21.

Seven food trucks and one 7-Eleven store were targeted in the armed robberies which occurred in the North Hollywood, Foothill, Mission and Van Nuys areas, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Oct. 16, detectives and gang enforcement officers served a search warrant at Garcia-Sotelo’s home.

During the search, clothing worn by the suspect during all eight robberies was found. One of the suspect’s vehicles, which was linked to additional crimes being investigated by LAPD, was seized as well.

Garcia-Sotelo was arrested on robbery charges and is being held without bail.

On Oct. 17, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 10 counts of robbery and 10 counts of assault with a firearm in the case.

“Due to how spread out these crimes were, detectives believe there may be additional victims across the San Fernando Valley that have not come forward,” authorities said.
