Soldiers have arrested two men for allegedly running errands for bandits at the SCC village market in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A community leader from the area, who preferred anonymity for security reasons, confirmed the arrest to our reporter through telephone at the weekend.
He said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, around 4:44 pm at SCC village market following intelligence information at the disposal of the soldiers.
He said the soldiers, who are always at Bishini junction, upon receiving the intelligent information, mobilised to the market and arrested the suspects while buying foodstuff and other items at the market.
He said the troops had been suspecting them for some time, not until last Thursday when they were apprehended at the market buying items allegedly to be delivered to the bandits at their hideouts.
A security source, who preferred anonymity, also confirmed the arrest of the two suspects, saying the suspects went to the SCC village market on a motorcycle to buy items for bandits when they were apprehended.
The source said, ‘’The suspects have confessed during interrogation to be running errands for some bandits that operate around Kurmin-Kare and Azzara villages.”
The spokesman for the state police command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
