Shoppers fume Walmart is making checkout process more ‘difficult’ – and blames chain’s ‘stupid’ new rule

A FRUSTRATED Walmart shopper has fumed the checkouts have become more “difficult” to use following the introduction of a “stupid” rule.

The fed-up customer took to social media site, Reddit, to vent their frustration.

In the sub-reddit Walmart Complaints, user EcstaticPrint8583 said it had been issue ever since the self checkout was installed.

They said: “Back then I used to work at Walmart (a different store), loved self check out.

“But every time I’ll go to the store closer to my house there self check out is either closed with two cashiers in entire store or card only.

“Then things changed over the years but one thing stayed consistent.

“The store I worked at had always open self checkouts no item limit both cash and card options but the local store only had card option at self check out, and self check outs were mostly closed.

“I don’t work at Walmart now so only shop at local Walmart store, I have Walmart+ membership and use scan and go.

“First they started closing the self check out, so now most are closed most of the time.

“Then just this month they put an item limit to 15 items.”

The frustrated shopper said the 15 item limit wasn’t the case at other stalls and was left annoyed when a cashier stopped them from checking out.

They added: “This cashier stopped me from checking out when all I had to do was scan the code on screen I didn’t feel like explaining, he looked busy and annoyed I didn’t wanna deal with it.

“I walked away to other side and two self check out were open on the other end.

“That cashier wasn’t paying attention to the number of items so I completed my check out.

“I normally don’t bother associates/cashiers becauseI was one of them once and it is hard plus they aren’t the ones making rules.

“But whoever came with this item limit idea on self check out when you offer scan and go option without limit is stupid.”

It’s not the first time a customer has become frustrated with a store’s checkout policy.

Earlier this month, a Costco customer slammed the self checkout process at the store.

Taking to social media platform Reddit, a fed up shopper revealed their local Costco removed the scanning device over fears of theft.

The poster wrote: “I used to do a quick self checkout with the guns.

“Now the checkout time has doubled if not tripled since I have to scan, place on the counter/scale, and then load back into the cart.

“Plus, there are employees at self checkout with the guns who just stand around and refuse to scan unless you have heavy items.

“There are also 2 employees at the exit checking receipts so it would be stupid to try to get away with un-scanned items.

“I know this won’t change anything, just venting.”

Other fed-up shoppers flocked to the comments in agreement.
