LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has now provided an update on his injury status[/caption]

And he was on hand to help the Dodgers take a 4-2 World Series lead over the New York Yankees.

However, the Japanese star has sparked concern after he left the game having appeared to injure his left arm after sliding to second base in the seventh inning.

A translated conversation was picked up between a medic and Ohtani as he received treatment, which seemed to suggest that his left shoulder had popped out of its pocket.

Following the game, Dodgers manager Roberts confirmed Ohtani had partially dislocated his left shoulder.

He said: “He had a little left shoulder subluxation.

“We’re going to get some tests at some point tonight or tomorrow, and then we’ll know more in the next couple of days.

“The strength was great. The range of motion good, so we’re encouraged.

“But obviously I can’t speculate because (he didn’t) get the scans yet.

“So once we have the scans, we’ll know more.

“But again, with the strength, the range of motion good, that’s certainly a positive.”

The best-of-seven series moves to the Yankee Stadium on Monday.

However, Roberts was positive about whether Ohtani would travel for the next game on the East Coast.

He said: “I’m not there.

“I’m expecting him to be there.

“I’m expecting him to be in the lineup.”

The match also saw Freddie Freeman hit a home run for a second successive night.

It came a day after he became the first person to hit a walk-off grand slam in a World Series to end game one.
