Unlike Costco, members cannot pay for their groceries using Apple Pay.

This payment issue has become a frustration for some shoppers who want to be in and out of the warehouse quickly.

One shopper claimed that the experience is now “getting out of hand” because they couldn’t pay for goods using Apple Pay, per an X post.

“Grow up, it’s 2024,” they blasted.

A Sam’s Club spokesperson responded to the furious shopper and apologized.

“We will be sure to use this feedback to make changes that will better assist our members.”

Sam’s Club has not confirmed there are plans in place to roll out Apple Pay.

Dozens of shoppers have lashed out at Sam’s Club over Apple Pay.

“Sam’s Club got everything but Apple Pay. You’re getting left behind,” another said.

Some shoppers branded the decision not to roll out the payment policy an “embarrassment.”

“Sam’s Club needs to get with the times,” a disgruntled customer said.

Shoppers can pay for items using cash, debit cards, and credit cards.

However, customers have been warned that the chain doesn’t accept PayPal.

Sam’s Club is one of a relatively short list of chains that don’t accept Apple Pay.

The Home Depot has also attracted widespread criticism over Apple Pay.

Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?

CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don’t offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.

“That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for,” he said.

Walmart is one of the few supermarkets that doesn’t accept the payment method.

The chain’s CEO, Doug McMillon, explained why the option has not been rolled out to customers.

However, Walmart shoppers can pay for goods without using their physical card.

Customers can link up their cards to the in-house Walmart app.

McMillon told Stratechery he prefers customers to be using the app.

But he didn’t seem to rule out the possibility of the chain working with Apple in the future.

Meanwhile, The U.S. Sun has reported that all Walmart stores will be closed for Thanksgiving.
