Sam’s Club speaks out after chain bombarded with fury over payment method options – customers are crying out for choice

SAM’S Club has apologized to shoppers who have lashed out at the chain over the payment methods it offers.

Customers have called on the Costco rival to roll out a particular method in its warehouses.

Sam’s Club is one of the few retailers that doesn’t allow shoppers to pay for goods via Apple Pay.

Not all shoppers welcome the fact that they cannot use Apple Pay.

In an X post, one shopper urged the retailer to get with the times.

They claimed they were having payment issues at a café in the warehouse.

The shopper also complained they didn’t want to use the Walmart app.

Sam’s Club apologized to the shopper.

“We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused,” they said.

“We want to thank you for letting us know about the issues as well so that we may have this opportunity to improve this for the future of our clubs.”

Shoppers have blasted the retailer for not rolling out Apple Pay and Google Pay services.

In response to another customer, the company said it would pass on the shopper’s complaint to the relevant department.

“We appreciate your patience during our investigation and will use your feedback to make improvements that better assist our members,” they said.

Furious shoppers have called on Sam’s Club to “grow up” and warned the wholesaler is being left behind.

Apple Pay is accepted at all Costco locations.

Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?

CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don’t offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.

“That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for,” he said.

“The fact your credit card machines do not accept Apple/Google Pay is an embarrassment,” a shopper said.

Some have claimed they’ve boycotted Sam’s Club in favor of Target because of the issue.

The U.S. Sun has approached Sam’s Club for comment.

Sam’s Club is not the only chain that doesn’t offer Apple Pay.

Walmart and Home Depot shoppers cannot pay for items via their Apple Wallet.

Home Depot shoppers can use gift cards, debit, and credit cards to buy items.

Meanwhile, Walmart customers can pay for items using the chain’s in-house app.

The U.S. Sun reported Walmart CEO Doug McMillon didn’t seem to rule out potentially rolling out Apple Pay in the future.

But such a move doesn’t seem imminent as he said he likes customers using the chain’s in-store app.
