Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) employees and patients can make same-day appointments for screening mammograms at The Vanderbilt Clinic either by calling 615-322-2064 or through the My Health at Vanderbilt web portal.
No referral from a primary care provider is required to book an appointment for a screening mammogram, but you must already have a medical chart set up at VUMC for the same-day service. The screenings take place on the first floor of The Vanderbilt Clinic on the main campus of VUMC, where there is signage to direct patients to check in. Appointments can be scheduled at 20-minute intervals between 7:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Monday through Friday.
These same-day screening mammograms are available only at The Vanderbilt Clinic. Diagnostic mammograms – for patients experiencing issues within their breast, possible symptoms of breast cancer or who are in surveillance – cannot be booked for same-day service and do require a referral order from a provider. Diagnostic mammograms must be scheduled in advance because they require more time. Diagnostic mammograms are performed at The Vanderbilt Breast Center at One Hundred Oaks.
