Samantha Armytage takes a vicious swipe at Seven and Sunrise as she appears on rival breakfast show: ‘I wake up with Today’

Samantha Armytage has apparently taken a cruel swipe at her former employer Channel Seven after joining rival network Nine

Samantha Armytage has taken another swipe at her former employer Channel Seven after joining rival network Nine.

The TV star, 48, was unveiled as the host of Nine’s new dating show The Golden Bachelor on the Upfronts on Thursday after weeks of rumours.

Her move to Nine comes after she shocked fans by resigning from rival Seven in August after 21 years at the network.

On Monday, Sam savaged Seven and the show she presented for eight years, Sunrise, during an appearance on Nine’s Today show.

The former Farmer Wants A Wife host shared a selfie alongside Today presenters Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Alex Cullen and Jayne Azzopardi.

“This morning I woke up to… Today,” she captioned the image.

Sam also wore a stylish blue dress, in what appeared to be a nod to Nine, as she posed on the set of the breakfast programme.

She couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she took several photos in the studio.

It is not the first time that Samantha seems to target her former employer Seven.

She appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at Seven as she shared a post celebrating her new job at Nine.

Sharing a photo of herself at the Nine Upfronts, Samantha said her move to Nine was like “coming home”, citing the fact that her first reporting job was at the network in 1998.

She also said emphatically that a “piece of her heart” has always been at Nine throughout her long career, despite working for their rival Seven for more than 20 years.

“Well, this is a bit of a surprise, isn’t it? A wonderful change, a new start and a new network for me,” she wrote.

‘I’m thrilled to be joining @channel9 and it feels a bit like coming home – my first reporting job out of university in 1998 was at WIN TV in Canberra – so part of my heart is with the family all the time 9 career.’

The TV presenter then revealed details about her new hosting gig on The Golden Bachelor, which will air on Nine next year.

‘My new show is THE GOLDEN BACHELOR coming out in 2025, and I’m so excited to keep playing TV Cupid, but this time for a more… ummm adult audience (if you’re in the fantastic 50s or 60s, single and looking for real love. Sign up now OR nominate someone you know),” she wrote.

“It’s THE biggest show in America and I know it’s going to be huge here. I can’t wait to start filming.

‘Join me on this wild ride, thanks for the warm welcome.. & bring on 2025!’

The Golden Bachelor offers people in their 50s and 60s the chance to find their second chance at love and will premiere on Nine sometime in 2025.
