NEW YORK– Costumed pups were dressed in bow ties, wigs and sunglasses during the annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in New York City.
The parade in Manhattan’s East Village on Saturday drew thousands of spectators to see dogs dressed in their best Halloween attire walking or riding along Avenue A.
One small dog poked its head out of an oversized yellow jacket, and another wore a pompadour and drove a small hot rod from “Grease.” Two others were dressed in hot dog costumes and one dog portrayed Glinda, the good witch from “The Wizard of Oz.”
The popular parade started 34 years ago to raise money for the Tompkins Square Park dog run, the city’s first and largest dog run.
