Pueblo School District 60 partners with police for drill

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, Pueblo School District 60 (D60) and the Pueblo Police Department will partner for the staging of an active shooter drill at both South High School and Central High School.

The drill is expected to take three hours and will involve police from PPD and staff from D60, D60 said no students would be involved in the drill.

“The purpose of the drill is to help District leadership, police, and other responding agencies be better prepared in the event of an actual active shooter incident. Although it is unfortunate that these types of drills are necessary, vigilance and preparedness dictate such training to be essential,” said D60.

D60 said those in the area of South and Central high schools should expect to see increased police and first responder activity. Those near South High School should be aware of the sound of simulated gunfire and/or explosions.
