A POPULAR software company will send $1,942 payments to those affected by their $29m privacy settlement if they fill out a form.
US-based ZoomInfo’s settlement is in response to claims that they violated consumer privacy rights.
ZoomInfo allegedly used personal client information to advertise its services, according to the privacy class action lawsuit, reports Top Class Actions.
The ads allegedly violated laws in these four states – California, Illinois, Indiana and Nevada, where the class action will benefit affected residents.
These include California residents whose name appeared on ZoomInfo.com between January 9, 2020, and March 27, 2024.
The Illinois class action will benefit residents whose name appeared for the first time on the website between April 15, 2020, and March 27, 2024.
The Indiana and Nevada class action benefits residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between March 27, 2022, and March 27, 2024.
ZoomInfo is a software and database company which provides data for companies and business individuals.
They haven’t admitted any wrongdoing but have agreed to pay over $29.55 million to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.
The settlement is split into four for each state. California will get $14.23 million and Illinois will be allocated $11.69 million.
Indiana has been granted $2.3 million and Nevada has been given $1.33 million.
The cash that class members will receive will also depend on their state.
For California residents this is the lowest – between $108.43 and $216.86.
Illinois class members will receive between $145.93 and $291.85.
Indiana class members will receive between $740.77 and $1,481.54 and Nevada class members will pocket the most – between $971.24 and $1,942.47.
It’s worth noting that class counsel estimated the payment amounts and actual payments may be higher or lower in reality.
The deadline for filling out the forms to claim the cash is November 4, 2024 and the final hearing is scheduled for November 21, 2024.
