Pete Davidson shows off tattoo removal progress after mental health treatment

Pete Davidson has apparently cleaned up his act — figuratively and literally.

The 30-year-old comedian was photographed this week for the first time since checking himself into a mental health facility in July. Stepping out alongside Machine Gun Kelly, the former “SNL” star attended at a sneak preview of The Room at Intuit Dome, the newly designed home of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Sporting a red FDNY short-sleeve shirt, Davidson’s bare arms noticeably showed a lot fewer tattoos than they had before.

A longtime fan of body art, Davidson at one time had over 70 tattoos, inspired by everything from past relationships to his hometown of New York to his favorite songs and films.

He previously said he started getting tattoos to cover up scars from cutting his chest as a form of self-harm.

“That’s why I started getting tats on my chest, to cover them,” he told Inked Mag in 2020. “When (I’m) so manic and upset, sometimes that’s the only thing that will work for me.”

Later that year, Davidson revealed he planned to start getting his tattoos removed. In 2021, he confirmed his desire to have them all removed by the age of 30, despite it being a long and incredibly painful process.

During an interview on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” he cited his professional acting aspirations as a motivator.

“It takes, like, three hours — you have to get (to set), like, three hours earlier — to cover all your tattoos,” he said of having his ink covered with makeup for his various film and TV projects.

In January 2023, Davidson was photographed shirtless on the beach, and seemingly had several of his tattoos already removed, including all the ones dedicated to ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Davidson’s latest project is the comedy flick “Riff Raff,” starring Jennifer Coolidge, Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union and Bill Murray. The film premiered on Sept. 6 at the Toronto International Film Festival, which he did not attend.
