The 31-year-old singer cut a comfortable figure in the striking two-piece with a stylish feather trim as she took a seat in the iconic yellow armchair.

The former Little Mix star will read The Shape of My Heart by Mark Sperring and Alys Paterson, which explores the shapes we see in the world around us.

Told through the vibrant shapes of a child’s world, this heartfelt love story looks at shapes on the ground, in the sky and everywhere in between, from cars to birds to the stars in the sky and even the shape of our hearts.

Perrie said telling the heartwarming story was ‘very special’ for her as she usually watches CBeebies with her three-year-old son Axel.

She said: ‘I love watching CBeebies Bedtime Story with my little one, so it was really special to be invited to read one myself. I hope people enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy reading it.’

This is the first of two stories Perrie has recorded for CBeebies, with details of her second story yet to be revealed.

Perrie follows in the footsteps of the likes of Kylie Minogue, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles and Ryan Reynolds, who have also taken on the gig in recent months.

The Taste singer shares her son Axel with footballer fiance Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 31.

It comes after Perrie said her meteoric rise with Little Mix led to debilitating panic attacks, shattered friendships and more than a hint of regret.

The singer became a household name after winning The X Factor in 2012 with bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.

To date, the only girl group to win the show, Little Mix enjoyed sustained success, winning multiple awards, amassing 15 billion streams and selling more than three million concert tickets during their decade-long reign of modern pop.

But they announced their hiatus in 2022, two years after Jesy announced her abrupt departure from the band due to long-term mental health issues.

Speaking to Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast the day after former One Direction star Liam Payne fell to his death from a hotel balcony, Perrie admitted her broken friendship with Jesy has inspired a new song.

She said: ‘I wrote a song about it – a friendship I had that I don’t have anymore. We don’t know how to talk about friendship breakdowns.

“It’s still so heartbreaking when you go through all these things with someone, all the highs and lows and then they’re just gone.

“But these things happen. Are we trying to make things right? Or will you just stay away?’

The singer, who launched a solo career with the release of debut single Forget About Us in April, also revealed she has been plagued by panic attacks since finding fame with Little Mix.

Citing a notable incident that occurred while the band was in the United States, she explained. “My fear started when we were in Vegas a few years ago when something happened.

‘I had been having panic attacks for a while. I thought I was dying, my heart hurt and I went to the hospital and they said, “What medicine did you take?” and I didn’t say anything!

It comes after Perrie spoke to Fearne Cotton's My Happy Place podcast about her struggles with panic attacks, rising anxiety and regret over the loss of her friendship with Jesy Nelson.

‘I told them, ‘Something is happening to my heart, I’m dying and I had a panic attack.’

‘Since that trip they kept coming and it got so bad I had to ask my mother to put me in a mental institution.’

She added: ‘Therapy has helped me enormously. I have tried so many therapists and doctors. I catastrophize the normal everyday things, but when I’m on stage I’m fine.’

Perrie Edwards’ story will air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer on Friday, November 1 at 6.50pm.
