Out of favour Pirates midfielder not dragging his feet

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm has only played a single but is optimistic that his hard work will pay off.

The Buccaneers have already played more than 10 games this season and this past weekend, they claimed their first trophy of the season. The 32-year-old former Marumo Gallants star suffered an ankle injury before the start of the campaign.

Timm played his last match for the Buccaneers back in August in the MTN8 semi-final second leg against Cape Town City.

“You come into this sport, knowing that it’s not boxing, it’s not tennis, you’re not doing this on your own,” said the Pirates midfielder as per FARPost.

“Of course, you want to play, you want to be involved all the time. That’s what you work for.

“I think I have enough experience to know how to conduct myself when things are not going the way you’d want, obviously not making the squad or sometimes on the bench.

“I’m not the type of player to also ask hierarchy – whether it’s management or technical team, I respect the decisions and choices,” Timm added.

The Pirates midfielder has not played in over six weeks

“So, it’s about continuing to work on myself, being an example, there’s a lot of young players.

“We train together in the morning, I don’t think it would be a good look for me to be dragging my feet or sulking when you have a lot of young players who are trying to push and get there, Timm continued.

“And instead, I choose the other route to being an example, continue having a good work ethic. That’s all that I’m in control of, the rest is not up to you.”

The midfielder is struggling to break into Jose Riveiro’s team this season with Thalente Mbatha and Makhehlene Makhaula looking solid. Having recently returned from injury, Timm could feature in more games, especially in the CAF Champions League.

Can Timm force his way into the starting 11?
