Orlando Pirates striker’s message to Broos after Bafana snub

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa says he is not bothered by his recent Bafana Bafana snub.

The 27-year-old won last season’s Golden Boot, netting a total of 16 goals. His club form however has earned him just a handful of caps for the national team.

Last week Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos named his final 23-man squad to battle Congo home and away in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The 72-year-old coach did not include the Orlando Pirates striker once again in his Bafana squad.

Instead, Lyle Foster and Iqraam Rayners were the only strikers picked in the squad.

“Coming to the national team issue or topic it will happen, if God wants it to happen it will happen,” Mabasa told the media.

“I will just continue to put the ball into the back of the net and continue to work hard at training because I know that I have the support of my teammates.

Orlando Pirates striker left out of Bafana squad

“Everyone keeps telling me you have to head up, and continue to work hard it will happen, said Mabasa.

The former Bloemfontein striker has so far scored four goals across all competitions this season. He was again on target when the Buccaneers triumphed in the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC.

With Percy Tau ruling himself out of Bafana selection, the Orlando Pirates striker might be called up if any injury occurs. Both Mabasa and his teammate Evidence Makgopa have been scoring goals for the Sea Robbers.

Should Mabasa be a regular for Bafana?
