Nova Twins reveal incredible moment HUGE music legend  summoned them backstage before his epic Glastonbury headline set

ROCK duo the Nova Twins revealed how Sir Elton John summoned them to his dressing room at Glastonbury – just minutes before he delivered a headline set masterclass.

Amy Love and Georgia South already knew rocket man Elton was a big fan of their grime infused punk-rock, but that still didn’t prepare them for the surprise meeting with music royalty.

In an exclusive chat ahead of their Jack Daniel’s Live to Vinyl session on Saturday, Amy said: “He called after we played The Other Stage.

“Someone was like, ‘A car’s waiting to take you to the Pyramid Stage. Elton wants to meet you before his Glasto set’.

“We went to the Pyramid Stage and there was Slash and Debbie Harry.

“We were just a bit like, ‘What the f*** is going on here?’

“It’s 20 minutes until he’s due on stage and he’s chatting away.

“He’s so lovely as well.”

Prior to the festival, Elton had tipped the girls as ones to watch and gave their second album, Supernova, a shoutout on the BBC.

Georgia said: “We were like this looks photoshopped, this is like too crazy that Elton’s holding up our vinyl talking about [single] K.M.B, so yeah we did know that he liked us, and then we had a Facetime with him on his Apple show, but we didn’t expect the Pyramid thing. That’s the first time we met him like in the flesh and that was crazy.”

The duo’s debut album, Who are the Girls?, was released in the middle of the Covid pandemic, which brought the entire industry to its knees.

Since those difficult days they’ve made up for lost time, being shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, landing two Brit Awards nominations last year and arena tour support slots with heavyweights Bring Me The Horizon and Muse.

The girls called both experiences “amazing” and said they were treated like equals.

Georgia said: “Bring Me’s tour, that was our first arena tour so we were new to kind of being in that space and they just had us in open arms and especially going out on [their single] 1×1 on their set as well, it was just like a really incredible experience.

“Then Muse, they’re one of like the greatest of all time, so to be on the same stage as them was incredible as well, and seeing how their set was just so explosive and all their props it was just super exciting and their crowd was really, really lovely.”

On Saturday, Nova Twins recorded three tracks live to vinyl at London’s Metropolis Studios in front of 40 lucky fans.

Georgia told us: “There is obviously a lot of pressure because what you’re doing just gets printed straight on the vinyl.

“Every time we play as a band we just have that kind of connection and chemistry with each other, and we just look at each other and we get excited and we’re like ‘oh my god performing live to vinyl’.

“We can’t help ourselves. Even in rehearsal we’re bouncing around the room.

“We love a bit of audience participation. We made sure there was a mic set up in the control room because it’d be strange for us not to have any audience interaction because that doesn’t work, they feed our show, like we just love touring and getting to immerse ourselves in the crowd with the crowd, so that had to be a part of the live to vinyl.”

It was an exciting way to cap off a purple patch that has seen them wrap up their third studio album.

The girls said the record has been mastered and will be out next year, with Georgia adding: “We kind of write how we feel at the time, we don’t overthink it.”

Live to Vinyl is a celebration of Jack Daniel’s longstanding connection to music, giving fans access to their favourite artists in an intimate setting.
