Nintendo shows off new hardware in five-minute showcase but it’s not the Switch 2

NINTENDO has just released a five-minute trailer for a new piece of tech, but it isn’t what people were expecting.

While everyone is waiting with bated breath to hear about the Nintendo Switch successor, a different piece of hardware is coming out first.

Alarmo will feature 35 themes from five different games[/caption]

Alarmo is a new alarm clock and sleep tracker that will feature songs from five different popular Nintendo games.

You can set your theme to either Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 3, Ring Fit Adventure, Pikmin 4, or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Not only will a song from that game wake you up but you can set sound effects to wake you up more quickly.

Every time you move after the alarm goes off, Alarmo will play a sound effect such as the coins from Mario, rupees from Zelda, or gunfire from Splatoon.

This noise cuts through the music and sounds very jarring, so it’s certain to make you get up.

It senses automatically when you sit up, so you don’t need to fumble around to turn the alarm off.

Alarmo will also record how much you move around in your sleep, and you can check your records to see when you slept better or worse.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are also set to join the selection of soundtracks as a free update in the near future.

However, people are running into a few issues when they are trying to order an Alarmo for themselves.

Firstly, if you want to purchase one you will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, though sales will apparently open up to everyone at a later date.

However, even if you have an online subscription, you might still be turned off by the price.

There are many sleep trackers on the market, including a number of free apps you can use with your smartphone or smartwatch.

Other sleep-tracking alarm clocks are also on the market and often cost less than £50/$50.

However, the Nintendo Alarmo costs a massive $100 (roughly £80) which is expensive for this type of alarm.

Despite the steep price it is still a Nintendo product and will undoubtedly sell out thanks to its dedicated fan base.
