NFL makes final Baker Mayfield suspension punishment decision after ZYN use on sidelines ahead of Buccaneers-Falcons

BAKER MAYFIELD will not be punished by the NFL after using ZYN on the sidelines during the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Cameras cut to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star as he placed a pouch into his mouth.

But the quarter-back will not be punished by the NFL, according to ESPN.

ZYN is a nicotine pouch, which, it’s claimed by manufacturers, does not contain tobacco.

And nicotine products are prohibited by the NFL on the sidelines and in interviews, yet Mayfield has escaped sanction.

However the league will write to Mayfield to remind him of the rules regarding nicotine usage.

The incident happened at the start of the third quarter in the Buccaneers’ defeat to Ravens.

And the NFL’s judgement means Mayfield is cleared to play against the Ravens.

Some fans were sceptical of the ruling and claimed double standards were being applied, implying Mayfield deserved to be sanctioned.

One said: “Tell me the NFL isn’t rigged without telling me it’s rigged. They clearly choose who to apply the rules to and who not to.”

Another added: “LOL so they are treated like children? No wonder the NFL is soft and weak.”

A third wrote: “Jamo got 2 games, Baker needs 2 games. No picking and choosing!!!! Suspend all rule breakers or don’t suspend anyone!!!!!”

And another commented: “Yet Jameson Williams has to sit 2 games?”

Mayfield was in the midst of a rough game against the Baltimore Ravens when he was caught popping the nicotine pouch.

Funnily enough, he turned things around in the second half after using it and nearly completed a huge comeback.

Mayfield might be upset that he won’t be allowed to use ZYN on the sideline after the game he had.

Outside of two interceptions, Mayfield had a great day, passing for 370 yards and three touchdowns.
