Allen appeared to be unconscious momentarily[/caption]

On a play late in the fourth quarter, Allen was forced out of the pocket and started running away from pressure.

He was able to get his throw off, but a tackler wrapped his ankles and was able to force him down.

During that tackle, Allen went down hard and his head bounced off the turf in a scary scene.

For a moment it appeared that the Bills quarterback might have been unconscious, and medical staff tended to him for multiple minutes before picking him up and getting him off the field.

Allen went into the blue medical tent for evaluations, but quickly came out and put his helmet back on and went back into the game.

This sequence of events left many fans questioning how Allen was allowed back into the game.

There are NFL concussion evaluators for both teams that are meant to check players’ health and see if they can go back into the game.

If Allen was knocked out on the field, he probably should not have been allowed in the game.

Fans took to social media to share their concerns and question if Allen is okay.

“Josh Allen skipping the concussion protocol has become too regular of a thing,” one fan said.

“Completely wrong that he came back in the game. I hope he recovers with good health,” another fan said.

“With what we know about head trauma now, this looks bad” a third fan said.

“Man, he was out. Yikes…” a fourth fan said.

“Shame on the NFL, for real,” a fifth fan said.

Allen shared in his postgame press conference that he was flagged for taking a hit to the head, but didn’t share anything about the evaluation process.

“They flagged me for hitting my head, but [I] felt good enough to go back into the game,” he said.

No official diagnosis has come out about Allen’s health from the play, but sports medicine expert Dr. Jesse Morse shared that he thinks Allen was concussed.

“Josh Allen appears to have SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, they gave him SMELLING SALTS then allowed him to return to the game,” he wrote on X.

“This should be a HUGE PENALTY and VERY risky for Josh Allen’s health.

“He could have suffered another concussion which could have caused second impact syndrome, which can be deadly.”

Despite Allen returning to the game, the Bills still lost to the Texans 20-23 and fell to 3-2 on the season.
