LG could be preparing for an exciting new product launch, according to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) testing filing documents.

Test results published online detail the specs for an as yet unknown LG laptop device. The testing was conducted by Audix Technology Corporation, an FCC-authorized equipment testing company that has previously conducted assessments on LG devices.

Details are scarce and there’s currently no concrete evidence of a product name, but the results do indicate it could be a new LG Gram Pro portable workstation – here’s what we know so far.

Mystery device

The aforementioned documents reveal that the mysterious device will use Intel’s Lunar Lake Ultra 9 CPU. The Ultra 8 288V mobile processor has eight cores and was officially launched in September this year.

Part of the wider Ultra 9 range, this processor uses the Lunar Lake architecture, has 12 MB L3 cache and runs at 3.3 GHz.

Elsewhere, the test application gives us insight into the displays users can expect in the near future, with documents detailing a 16-inch LCD display. Moreover, the laptop seems suitable for Wi-Fi 7.

In terms of storage, tests were conducted on devices using Samsung SSDs ranging from 256 GB of memory to 1 TB, as well as SK hynix SSDs in the same storage range.

While LG is yet to confirm any details, the launch of this new mystery device would be part of a growing roster for LG. In early September 2024, LG unveiled the Gram Pro 16 device at IFA 2024 to tap into the current AI PC trend.

This marked the launch of the first notebook equipped with an Intel Core Ultra CPU from the Lunar Lake series, as well as the company’s first laptop to secure Copilot+ PC status as its NPU was able to meet Microsoft’s minimum requirements.

With an NPU capable of 48 TOPS, LG says the notebook will set a “new standard for AI PCs”

“The LG gram 16 Pro is now more efficient thanks to advanced AI capabilities such as productivity assistants, text and image creation and collaboration tools,” the company said in a launch statement. “Additionally, the longer battery life means users can complete tasks without worry.”
