A MUM stabbed her ten-year-old daughter to death as she slept then told police: “My kid is dead”.
Shay Kang was knifed 11 times with a Swiss Army knife at her home in Rowley Regis, West Midlands, on March 4.
Her mum Jaskirat Kaur made the chilling confession to police hours after killing the youngster.
The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility, which was accepted by prosecutors.
She has now been given an indefinite hospital order after she was found to be suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Kaur believed she was being targeted by “lasers and technology” when she killed her daughter.
When police arrived at their home after the 999 call, the mum told them she had had “projections coming in and out” of their home.
She added: “It was me (that killed her) because I didn’t want her getting took by it.”
Kaur also admitted she had wanted to kill her daughter for the past seven months in a chilling police interview.
She added: “They can’t adopt her, they can’t take her. It’s not going to make sense, but to me it does.
“I was worried about Shay growing up. I knew that there needed to be an end date.
“I would kill her again. I wanted her to die, I don’t regret it.”
An inquest heard previously how Shay died from stab wounds to the chest.
Tributes flooded in for the youngster, who was a pupil at Brickhouse Primary School.
The school said in a statement: “Shay was a bright, happy, fun-loving child who was well liked by all and she will be very sadly missed by everyone.
“School is the heart of the community and we have already begun working with our children and staff to support them following this devastating news.”
While Shay’s godmother Kayleigh Colclough also told of her pain in a heartbreaking tribute.
She wrote: “I’ll miss you baby girl. My heart hurts.
“I’m not sure how I feel. I feel sick, numb, angry and a failure. I’m totally heartbroken.
“I’m so, so sorry baby girl. I’ll forever miss you but remember I’m bringing you justice.”
