(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A motorcyclist who was killed in a head-on crash on 30th Street near Centennial Boulevard in September has been identified by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
According to CSPD, officers originally responded just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to the intersection of North 30th Street and Boardwalk Drive on a report of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
The crash investigation revealed that a motorcyclist heading north on 30th had crossed over into the oncoming lanes and hit a car heading southbound. CSPD said the motorcyclist was declared dead on scene.
On Sept. 4, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 61-year-old Eddie Lee. According to CSPD, this was the 39th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2024. At the same time in 2023, there were 30 fatalities.
