MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — People in Morehead City are also gathering donations to take to the Western part of the state.
With life-threatening flood conditions still impacting so many towns, supplies are desperately needed for many who lost everything they had.
“Just trying to help some people who aren’t used to having hurricanes in their backyard,” Teresa and Michael Lewis said. “We have seen a lot of posts on Facebook and we are just devasated with what’s happening up there, and we wanna help out. We’ve had problems like this in Carteret County, but now we wanna help them.”
The Lewises dropped off supplies at the Morehead City Fire-EMS Station as part of a drive in coordination with Crystal Coast Boots and Badges.
“Today, we are starting accepting at the fire station here at Morehead City Station 2,” Morehead City firefighter/paramedic Kristen Davis said. “This will take place until Monday the 7th and donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.”
Davis and some of her colleagues help run Crystal Coast Boots and Badges and they are taking donations to go to those people in need in Western NC.
“With all this going on in the West, we have decided to take on the financial donation side of things, so we are accepting, cash, checks written to Crystal Coast Boots and Badges, all this money is going towards this whole drive,” Davis said.
