In response to the severe weather conditions expected in the area, including high winds and heavy rain, Caldwell County Schools will implement a three-hour early release for all schools today (September 26). Additionally, there will be no school for students or staff on Friday. A statement released by the school system reads, “the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities.” Parents and guardians are encouraged to make necessary arrangements for early pick-up today.

Thursday and Friday (September 26 & 27) will be remote learning days for Burke County Schools. Read more at burke.k12.nc.us.

Alexander County Schools has announced that all county middle schools will release at 12 noon today (September 26). High schools and elementary schools will close at 12:30 p.m. today. All Alexander County Schools will be closed tomorrow.

The Town of Granite Falls released a statement late yesterday afternoon (September 25) declaring a state of emergency for the town. The declaration went into effect at 5 p.m. Wednesday and was signed by the mayor of Granite Falls, Dr. Caryl B. Burns.
