MLB fans demand Bob Costas is ‘removed from the broadcast immediately’ after his ‘1930s radio’ commentary in playoffs

BASEBALL fans wanted broadcast icon Bob Costas removed after being left unimpressed by his play-calling.

Costas, 72, was on the call for TBS in the National League Division Series clash between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals.

The game ended in a dramatic 3-2 win for the Yankees as they took a 2-1 lead in the series.

But fans at home didn’t feel the excitement in Costas’ call.

A clip of Giancarlo Stanton’s RBI double in the fourth inning which resulted in the Yankees taking the lead circulated online.

“The Yanks jump in front, 1-0,” Costas said after describing the play.

Fox Sports MLB analyst Ben Verlander posted it online.

And he said, “I can’t handle this broadcast. All of it. What is this.”

His followers rushed to the comments section on X to agree.

One commented, “I need Costas off the broadcast immediately.

“Bro gives you the impression that line drives to shallow left field are about to leave the park.”

While another said, “It feels like we’re listening to 1930’s radio.”

And a third posted, “It’s like he’s narrating archive video from 75 years ago.”

Other fans went even further in their demands.

“MLB needs to step in,” one claimed.

While another wrote, “Never thought I’d see the day where I agreed with Ben, fire everyone at TBS.”

Costas is an icon in sports broadcasting with his career spanning six decades.

He got his big break when he joined NBC as a 28-year-old in 1980.

And Costas covered all sports – including NFL, NBA, MLB, boxing and golf.

The 72-year-old also fronted NBC’s flagship coverage of the Olympic Games.

He left NBC in 2919 after 40 years with the network.

Costas made a special guest appearance on NBC’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with another former network host Al Michaels.
