Mental health-related standoff underway in Jefferson County; Highway 30 shut down

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities are attempting to make an arrest of a man after responding to a mental health situation Friday morning in Jefferson County.

Highway 30 is shut down as of 9 a.m. Friday due to an apparent standoff between a man and authorities near House Springs.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says it is attempting “to make a felony arrest on a man who stopped his vehicle along Highway 30 near Executive Parkway.”

Local traffic on eastbound Highway 30 traffic is being diverted onto Local Hillsboro Road. Drivers can then continue to Dulin Creek Road, Hillsboro House Springs Road, or go all the way to Highway 21 northbound to avoid the closure.

Westbound Traffic is being turned around at Scottsdale Road and diverted back to the eastbound lanes. Drivers can also use the Dulin Creek, Hillsboro House Springs, or Highway 21 routes to get around the closures.

Authorities are also investigating a driver in a stolen vehicle crashed down an enbankment into water Friday morning in Jefferson County. Two people were inside the car, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This is an unrelated incident to the standoff in Jefferson County.

Additional information is limited at this time. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
