Meet the Candidates Forum: November 5 candidates state their case

VICKSBURG, MS – Last night, candidates from the upcoming November 5 General election met with members of the community in a Meet the Candidates forum at the Warren County Circuit courtroom. Approximately thirty members of the community were in attendance.

The candidates who spoke at last night’s forum were Bobbie Bingham Morrow (District 2 Election commissioner), Ty Pinkins (US Senate), Ron Eller (US House of Representatives), Byron Carter (Supreme Court Justice – District 1: Position 3), and Linda Muirhead Patterson (4th District School Board Trustee).

Each candidate was offered two minutes to introduce themselves, and speak to why they should be elected. After each of the candidates were introduced, the floor was opened to questions from the audience via prepared questions.

Polls for the General Election will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Any voter who is in line at 7 p.m. is legally entitled to cast a ballot.

The Meet the Candidates Forum is sponsored by members of the Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., who have partnered with the First Mississippi Chapter of Blacks In Government, the Vicksburg Branch of the NAACP, the Medgar and Angela Scott Foundation, Omicron Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
