ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A fatal house fire investigation was underway early Thursday morning in Anderson County.
The Powdersville Fire Department said multiple fire departments responded after midnight on Wyatt Road near Orr Road in Piedmont.
Upon arrival, firefighters said the home was engulfed with heavy flames and had already collapsed.
Crews were at the scene for over eight hours extinguishing the fire.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 91-year-old Bobby Bruce Orr perished in the fire. The coroner added that there was no suspicion of foul play.
Details of what may have led to the fire are undetermined, but investigators shared that two space heaters were found at the scene.
The house being built in the 1940s could also be a contributing factor to the fire according to the coroner.
The fire remains under investigation by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
