Malik Nabers injury update with ‘concerning development’ for New York Giants star after concussion injury

NEW YORK GIANTS star Malik Nabers is a doubt for the match against the Cincinnati Bengals after his concussion injury.

The wide receiver suffered a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys last month in a game the Giants lost 20-15.

He missed the next match against the Seahawks but it was hoped Nabers would be passed fit to play this weekend.

However he is now a big doubt for the visit of the Bengals as he has not progressed in his recovery.

Coach Brian Dobell revealed Nabers remains in the same stage of the concussion protocol so he is not ready to play, with the game just days away.

Nabers has only played four games in the NFL after being drafted by the Giants, but he has already proven himself to be a superstar in the league.

In four games, Nabers compiled 386 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns.

Both of those numbers were the highest marks among all players in the league.

Nabers was the number six pick in the draft and in August the Giants even unretired the jersey No. 1 for him to wear.

While legend Justin Tuck said of Nabers when speaking to the US Sun: “I think he’s a beast.”

Last year, Nabers was a unanimous All-American player for the Tigers.

He recorded 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Nabers posted the most receptions (189) and receiving yards (3,003) in program history.

The NFL has seen many highly drafted rookie receivers become successful in the league.

Still, Nabers will have to execute and display his catch-making, speed, and route-running to the next level.

“I know I’m a rookie, but I really don’t feel like one,” Nabers said to the New York Post.

“I’m in a new system, new offense, new league, but I’m going to just continue to be who I am.

“Don’t think twice about what I’m doing, just play fast.”

Meanwhile Giants running back Devin Singletary missed Wednesday’s practice due to a groin injury he suffered during Thursday’s loss.

Singletary has posted 56 rushing attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

His 221 yards represent close to 65 percent of the team’s 341 total rushing yards.

The Giants have a 2-4 record this season having beaten the Cleveland Browns and the Seahawks.
