Local organization raises money to support ALS patients

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — One organization in the east is raising funds to support ALS patients and their families.

The Charlotte Baker Memorial Benefit Organization started in September 2021, after Charlotte passed away in May of that year. The event raised $6,000 in its first run, and in 2023 they raised over $25,000. It’s clear that the organization is growing.

WNCT meteorologist Christopher Tyndall helped judge their cook off. They also raised funds from games, vendor booths and softball tournaments with teams who often donate their prize money back.

“It’s for a good cause. It’s a community based event we try to keep everything local and I mean theres some good food. It’s good fun, good food and it all goes for a good cause it supports our local families that people actually know and can actually see, so they see the impact of it.” said Josh Baker, son of Charlotte Baker.

All funds go directly to the patients with ASL.
