GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — One breast cancer survivor is bringing the community together to raise awareness for breast cancer.
This is the second year Louise Norwood has hosted this event. They walk to raise money to help those fight breast cancer. Norwood was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, now she has been free for 13 years. Throughout her journey she offered to give up her treatment so others who couldn’t afford it could receive the care they needed. Norwood said that all proceeds go to Physicians East.
“I said if I ever get myself together, I’m gonna do this walk to raise this money up where they can get help where [those] who don’t have the money to get the treatment they can use this money. This is what this money is for.” said Louise Norwood, breast cancer survivor.
Norwood added that this year was a great turnout and she hopes to raise double than what was raised last year.
