A former Member of Parliament, Killer Zivhu, has come under heavy criticism online after publicly supporting Shaw Mushati, a woman arrested for allegedly abusing her baby.
The controversial support stems from Zivhu’s visit to the Mutare Remand Prison, where Mushati is being held, during which he made a financial donation to her.
Zivhu’s Statement and Public Response
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Zivhu revealed that he had met with Mushati and was deeply moved by her situation, announcing his decision to offer her financial assistance of $5,000.

Legal Proceedings and Mental Health Factors
The case took a new turn when Shaw Mushati appeared in court, where she admitted to charges related to the ill-treatment or neglect of her child. During the court proceedings, Mushati revealed that she had a history of mental illness and had stopped taking her prescribed medication, a factor that may have influenced her behaviour.
The court has since ordered a psychiatric evaluation to assess her condition. Mushati is currently held in custody, with her next court appearance scheduled for October 30.
