LeBron James slams ‘lame’ Cleveland Browns fans who booed controversial QB Deshaun Watson after Bengals injury

CLEVELAND Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is feared to have suffered a season-ending injury, but you wouldn’t be able to tell by how fans reacted.

Watson suffered a non-contact injury against the Cincinnati Bengals, and is expected to have ruptured his Achilles.

Watson went down in pain after the two-minute warning in the first half of the game, and was eventually carted off the field.

“Obviously, it doesn’t look good with the injury,” Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said.

“So, I’ll give him a call here in a little but… disappointed for him.

“Any of our guys that you lose, you’re disappointed because you know much this means to them and how hard they work. It’s tough.”

While Watson was down on the ground, the Cleveland crowd roared into cheers, seemingly celebrating their quarterback’s injury.

Watson has been a polarizing figure in the NFL over the past few seasons, dealing with multiple off-field controversies during his time with the browns.

Fans have grown especially fed up with his poor play on the field though.

Watson entered the game to a chorus of boss before getting injured, and didn’t have any inspiring play during the game.

This season, Watson was one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the entire league.

He only passed for 1,148 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions through seven games.

Watson was also sacked 33 times this season, many of them being his own fault.

Browns fans realizing Watson wouldn’t be their quarterback for the rest of the year caused them to rejoice, but many didn’t like that reaction.

“I don’t think it’s ever okay to cheer when someone’s injured,” Stefanksi said.

“I’m sure it’s not every person in the building doing that, but that’s disappointing.”

“We don’t boo guys that are injured on the field, especially when the cart comes out,” defensive end Myles Garrett said.

Even NBA star LeBron James got in on the criticism of fans, as he is a Cleveland native.

“Cleveland Fans! Yall know how much we’ve been thru throughout the years both good, bad and indifferent,” he wrote on X.

“With that being said booing anyone that’s down with an injury let alone your own player is LAME AF!!”

Veteran quarterback Jameis Winston is expected to be the Browns starting quarterback going forward.
