Australian Idol auditions have kicked off in Sydney for season 10, but judge Kyle Sandilands says there is one glaring problem with the next batch of contestants.

The radio star, 53, revealed on Sunday that those auditioning are either charismatic but “terrible singers” or fantastic singers who are “terrible at everything else”.

He said the artists in Sydney have been 50/50 so far, with the media personality admitting he’s struggling to find someone “who has it all”, he reported. Confidential.

“The tricky thing is some people come in looking like stars and start talking to us and we think, wow, this person really has a spark, but they’re terrible singers,” he said.

“Then the great singers are terrible at everything else.

‘You really have to find the magic ingredient, someone who has everything. The whole package: the voice, the attitude, everything.”

It comes as the reboot of Australian Idol returned to screens last year as a huge success after a 14-year hiatus.
